TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State’s Joe Allen and Samantha George
each left the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo. this past
weekend with first-place finishes and NCAA Provisional qualifying times.
On Monday, the two were named ACC Male and Female Indoor Track and Field
Performers of the Week.

Senior Samantha George, from Brampton, Ontario, Canada, set a new
Florida State indoor school record with a time of 53.56 in the 400m dash.
George captured first place in the event and earned an NCAA Provisional
qualification with her performance. George’s time in the 400m dash is the
fastest in the ACC and third fastest in the country so far this season.
George also holds the country’s second fastest time in the 800m run with a
time of 2:07.88.

Junior Joe Allen, from Toledo, Ohio, captured the individual title
in the long jump with a jump of 24’7.25″ and garnered a third-place finish
in the triple jump. The first-place finish at the Air Force Invitational
marked the second time this season that Allen has won the long jump at a
meet. Allen earned an NCAA Provisional qualifying mark earlier this year
at the Pepsi Indoor Invitational at Virginia Tech with a jump of 24’11.00″.

The two ACC Performers of the Week and the Seminoles will be in
action this weekend at the ACC-SEC Challenge in Gainesville, Fla.
