Tallahassee, FL– With the conclusion of a successful tournament just a day ago, Florida State has another opportunity to showcase their talent. Sophomore Katie Rybakova (Coral Springs, FL) and junior Lauren Macfarlane (Ogden, UT) will compete at the 2008 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships located in Pacific Palisades, CA at the Riviera Tennis Club.
The elite competition for the qualifying matches consists of 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams. First and second rounds of singles as well as the first round of doubles will begin Tuesday, October 30th. Third round of singles and second and third rounds for doubles will take place Wednesday, October first.
Beginning the Championships in the top seed, No. 24 Rybakova will look to defeat No. 56 Courtney Ulery of Vanderbilt. If successful, she will face either Jennifer Lee Heisner of San Francisco or Denver’s Mallory Voelker.
Placed in the 45th seed, No. 53 Macfarlane will match-up with Stanford’s Lindsay Burdette who was ranked in the preseason polls at No. 48.
As for doubles, No. 40 Rybakova and Macfarlane, placed in the 31st seed, will battle Vanja Corovic and Marija Milic of Texas.
