Two Top 25 Teams Await FSU Volleyball At The Kansas State Invitational

The Florida State volleyball team will embark on perhaps its most challenging part of the season this weekend at the Varney’s Kansas State Invitational…Fifth-ranked and 2004 national semi-finalist Minnesota, Houston and 24th-ranked K-State will participate in the event to be held at Terina Irsik Memorial Court in Manhattan…The Seminoles, who have been plagued with significant injuries already this season, opened last weekend with a 1-2 record during the FSU Invitational…Senior outside hitter Kristen Rust was the lone Tribe member named to the all-tournament team…Rust is powering the offense with an impressive 3.42 kills per game and a .373 hitting percentage…Rust also leads the team in serving with 0.42 aces per game and 2.17 digs per game…Freshman Marrita Royster-Crockett and Sarah Griffin average 2.67 and 2.33 kpg…Libero Summer Weissing paces the defense with 4.25 dpg…Defensively, freshman Gabrielle Rivera has a team-best 10 blocks (2-8)…Rust and Makini Thompson are ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, in the ACC (hitting %) and Weissing ranks seventh in digs…Florida State is hitting .223 and holding its opponents to a .173 mark…No live stats are available for this weekend’s tournament.
