TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State women’s soccer program will once again be well represented this month with the United States U-23, U-20 and U-18 Women’s National Teams all in action.

Tiffany McCarty, Toni Pressley and Casey Short were named to the U.S. U-20 roster as selected by U-20 National Team head coach Jillian Ellis. The trio of Seminoles will head to Guatemala City, Guatemala for the CONCACAF qualifying tournament which will be held January 19-30 with a berth to the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Germany (July 13 – August 1) on the line.

The 2010 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship is an eight-team tournament that will send three nations to Germany. The qualifying matches will be played at the 17,000-seat Estadio Cementos Progreso. This is the first time a qualifying tournament for this age group has been held in Central America.

The event will consist of two groups of four teams each with the top two finishers after group play crossing over into the semifinals. The reigning U-20 world champion USA is up against Jamaica at 4:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, Jan. 21, live on Fox Soccer Channel. The U.S. will then face Trinidad & Tobago at 4:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 23, and will wrap-up pool play against Mexico at 4:30 p.m. ET on Monday, Jan. 25, in Group B. Group A consists of Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba and host Guatemala.

The group winners will play the runners-up from the opposite group on January 28, with the championship and third-place matches set for Saturday, Jan. 30. Both semifinal matches and the tournament final will be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel.

Becky Edwards and Amanda DaCosta are headed to Carson, Calif., January 13-20 to train with the U-23 Women’s National Team. Edwards and DaCosta are two of 24 players called into camp by head coach Bill Irwin. The camp will overlap four days on the front end with the U.S. U-18 Women’s National Team camp and three days on the back end with the full U.S. Women’s National Team. The U-23 squad will face Korea Republic’s Full Women’s National Team twice while training in Southern California on Saturday, January 16 and then again on Monday, January 18. Both matches are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. PT at The Home Depot Center.

Freshman Alex Crown is already in Carson, Calif., training with the U.S. U-18 Women’s National team. Camp began on January 10 and will run through the 17th at The Home Depot Center. This marks Crown’s second appearance in camp with the U-18 team.
