TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Andres Bucaro and Vahid Mirzadeh were defeated in their first round matches of singles play on Monday. Bucaro and Clint Bowles won their opening match in doubles, yet fell in the second round on Tuesday, October 6.
Bucaro played a tough match against Adrian Skogeng Forberg from Ole Miss, falling 6-3, 6-2. Mirzadeh also ran into a road block as Costin Pavel from Oklahoma took the first set 6-1. Mirzadeh fought back in the second set but eventually came up short as Pavel won 7-5.
On the doubles side, Bowles and Bucaro had never competed together before, but their first match showed no signs of any difficulty working together, winning easily 8-3 over San Diego State’s Jose Sierra and Giovanni Vaglietti. Their second round match was against the No. 4-seeded tandem of Matt Kecki and Jaak Poldma from USC. The Seminole duo stood tall throughout the entire match, but narrowly fell short, losing 9-7.
While Bucaro’s tournament is over, Bowles and Mirzadeh will continue on. Bowles will join Jean-Yves Aubone in the main draw of singles, while Mirzadeh will pair up with Aubone in the main draw of doubles. Each draw will begin play on Thursday, and the pairings will be released after the qualifying rounds are completed on Wednesday.
