TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
Florida State University senior Vicky Gill was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week Monday afternoon by the league office. Gill, a native of Lancashire, England, earned the honor after winning the White Group competition at the 2002 NCAA Pre-National meet in Terre Haute, Ind., last Saturday.

Gill, who is the first FSU runner to win the weekly award this year, won the overall meet with an Indiana State University course record of 19:55. She was the only competitor in the White Group to run the 6k-course under 20 minutes.

Gill’s group of competition included 248 runners from 37 schools. Ten of the teams were ranked nationally and included three ACC opponents.

Gill and her teammates on the men’s and women’s squads will return to the trails on Nov. 2, when FSU travels to Atlanta to compete at the 2002 ACC Championships.
