Tallahassee, Fla. — The Florida State University announced Wednesday that Woody Hayes has been selected as the new public address announcer for Seminole home football games in Doak S. Campbell Stadium.

Hayes was selected from four finalists who auditioned at Saturday’s spring football game. He was the leading vote-getter in a poll of fans held on Seminoles.com. The public address announcer at FSU basketball games for the past nine years, Hayes is a radio personality at 94.9 WTNT in Tallahassee.

Hayes, 41, replaces Nick Menacof who retired following the 2009 season after serving as the P.A. announcer for the Seminoles the past 25 years.

“It is truly an honor to be a part of the Seminole Football tradition,” said Hayes. ” I’m following a legend in Nick Menacof and I am so excited to have been selected over the great group of finalists. I can’t wait for the season to start. Let’s Pack Doak!”

The Seminoles open the 2010 season against Samford on September 4th and will also play BYU, Wake Forest, Boston College, North Carolina, Clemson and Florida at home.
