ATLANTA, Ga. — Despite 16 strong kills from sophomore middle
hitter Norisha Campbell, the Florida State volleyball team suffered its
seventh straight loss on Saturday, falling to Georgia Tech by scores of
7-15, 14-16 and 7-15. The loss puts FSU at 5-12 overall and 0-6 in ACC
play, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 13-6 overall and even at 3-3
in the league.
Junior outside hitter Jennifer Werrick again tallied
double-digit kills with 13, but the Lady Seminoles struggled as a team,
hitting just .129 for the match. After a tough first game in which the
Tribe hit -.128, Florida State rallied for a .235 performance in game
two with 27 kills but fell 14-16. Georgia Tech turned it on in the
final set, hitting .459 to FSU’s .212.
For the second straight match, Florida State played without
senior leader Aisha Thornton, who is ill, and freshman Kristin Frye, who
is out at least four weeks with a hairline fracture to her right ankle.
Florida State will host crosstown-rival FAMU on Monday, Oct.
11th at 8 p.m. The match will be shown live on Sunshine Network.
