TALLAHASSEE, FL — The Lady Seminole volleyball team fell to 1-1
on the year following an 11-15, 8-15, 4-15 loss to South Carolina in the
opening round of the Florida State Classic. The Gamecocks improved to 1-0
with the victory.
“I was very disappointed with our intensity tonight,” said head
coach Dr. Cecile Reynaud following the match. “We started off flat and
never picked up the pace. South Carolina was very aggressive. We just
FSU fell behind early in each game. South Carolina jumped on top
in game one 11-2 behind four service aces and a string of big blocks at
the net. The Lady Seminoles rallied to close to within three points at
14-11, but a Megan Hosp kill gave South Carolina the 15-11 win. Florida
State never could gain any momentum in the final two games as South
Carolina completed the three-game sweep.
Freshman Erica Bunch was the only Lady Seminole with double-digit
kills tallying 13 on the night. As a team, FSU was outhit by the
Gamecocks .432 to .188. South Carolina also recorded 11 service aces.
