TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Following its perfect weekend at home, the No. 21 Florida State volleyball team will head to Louisville on Friday (Sept. 29) and Notre Dame on Sunday (Oct. 1) for its second weekend of conference play. The Seminoles remain the only ranked team in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and one of only five teams in the conference to go 2-0 in opening weekend.
Louisville is now 1-1 in the ACC after defeating Notre Dame and falling to North Carolina in its opening weekend, while Notre Dame also fell to NC State to go 0-2 in its opening weekend. The Fighting Irish will face undefeated conference opponent Miami on Friday (Sept. 29) before hosting the Seminoles on Sunday.
After this weekend, the Seminoles will return home to host Miami on Wednesday, Oct. 4 and Pittsburgh on Friday, Oct. 6.
Seminoles Stat Leaders
The Seminoles’ offense will be led by senior outside hitter Milica Kubura, who is currently averaging 3.97 kills per set, with 151 kills on 327 total attacks already this season. Senior Natasha Calkins follows right behind her outside counterpart, averaging 3.12 kills per set (125 total) so far this season.
The offense has been supported by junior setter Brianne Burkert this season, as the Seminoles’ lead setter has already notched 392 assists (9.80 assists/set). Burkert has also recorded a double-double in eight of the 10 matches the team has played so far, and has now recorded 21 double-doubles in her career.
On the defensive side, senior libero Cecilie Woie leads the team with 173 digs (4.32 digs/set). Burkert follows right behind her with 130 digs (3.25) already this season. Freshman middle blocker Taryn Knuth has been holding down the defense in the front row, leading the Seminoles with 47 total blocks (1.17 blocks/set) this season.
