    Solid Starts

  • With a 7-0 start, Florida State is well on its way to another strong start. Last season, the Lady Seminoles won their first 12 matches, breaking a 15-year record (8-0 in 1982) for the program’s best start. FSU’s first loss last season came in its 13th match against then-#3 Florida in front of a record home crowd of over 2,700 fans. Consistent Play
  • The Lady Seminoles aren’t giving up many games this season. The Tribe has dropped just three out of 24 games in its seven matches. In fact, FSU has swept five opponents. Florida State needed 4 games to get past Utah State and 5 to defeat Northern Iowa.
Werrick: ACC Player of the Week

  • Sophomore outside hitter Jennifer Werrick was named this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week after helping to lead the Lady Seminoles to a 4-0 record last week. Werrick averaged 5.23 kills and 3.08 digs per game, posting 68 kills, 40 digs, and nine blocks in FSU’s four matches. The Lakeland resident finished the week with a .309 hitting percentage and tallied two double-doubles in the USF Classic in Tampa. Zulueta: Home Sweet Home

Zulueta played her high school career in Mission Viejo. 1968-1998: 30 Years of Women’s Athletics * Florida State University is proud to be entering its 30th year of women’s intercollegiate athletics.

    National Acclaim

    Sweet Revenge

  • Florida State got some revenge during the South Florida Classic last weekend. Each of its three opponents had handed FSU a post-season loss in the schools’ previous meeting. South Florida eliminated FSU from the NCAA Tournament last year with a 3-2 defeat of the Lady Seminoles in Gainesville. In FSU’s last meeting with California, the Golden Bears knocked FSU out of the 1989 NCAAs, downing the Noles 3-1 in Tallahassee. Finally, the only meeting between Utah State and FSU came in the 3rd place game of the AIAW National Tournament in 1981. The Aggies edged the Lady Seminoles in a best 2-of-3 format 2-1. The revenge… FSU swept both South Florida and California and downed Utah State by a 3-1 margin. Pinpoint Serves
  • One of FSU’s strong points during the FSU Classic to open the season was its serve. Susan Hawks recorded a career-high 5 service aces against FIU after posting 4 against SLU on Friday night. During the Classic, the Lady Seminoles talled 23 aces in 11 games.
