Series vs. North Carolina: Florida State leads the series 21-7. UNC and FSU have split the last six meetings. The Tar Heels are 6-4 against FSU at home and have won the last 3 meetings in Chapel Hill.

Series vs. NC State: The Lady Seminoles lead 15-4. Florida State has won seven straight matches over NC State dating back to 1996. FSU is 6-4 in Raleigh, 6-3 vs. the Wolfpack.

#14 Clemson 3, Florida State 1

Florida State stole game one against the #14 ranked-Tigers in Tully Gym last Friday, but Clemson regrouped to take the match 3-1.
Norisha Campbell and Erica Bunch tallied double-digit kills in the defeat.

Georgia Tech 3, Florida State 1

Once again, the Lady Seminoles took an early 1-0, winning game one 15-10 over Georgia Tech, only to fall in four games. Campbell led FSU with 14 kills. Thornton added 13 on a .500 hitting percentage.

#4 Florida 3, Florida State 0

The Gators powered past Florida State in Gainesville for a 3-0 sweep. Thornton led the Lady Seminoles with 12 kills on a .600 hitting percentage along with a pair of blocks. Campbell added 7 kills.

Lately: The Tar Heels have won five of their last six matches. UNC fell to rival Duke in five games last Saturday.

First Meeting of 1999: Jennifer Werrick led the Lady Seminoles with nine kills, but the Tribe was plagued by 10 service errors and just a .117 hitting percentage as the Tar Heels handed FSU its 7th conference loss of the season.

Current Record: 13-18* (*host Maryland Fri.).

Conference: 3-11* in the ACC.

Lately: NC State has dropped five of its last six matches. The last Wolfpack win was at East Carolina on November 2nd.

Coach: Kim Hall, 6th season at NC State.

First Meeting of 1999: Jennifer Werrick, Aisha Thornton, Norisha Campbell, and Erica Bunch all recorded double-digit kills and setter Jamie Hibbard posted a double-double as Florida State picked up its first Atlantic Coast Conference victory of the season in front of the home crowd in Tully Gym. Florida State outblocked NC State 14-7. The Lady Seminoles also outdug NCSU by a 59-47 margin.

Injury Report

  • Junior outside hitter Jennifer Werrick fractured her left ankle during practice last week and will be out for the remainder of the season. She joins fellow OH Kristin Frye, who remains sidelined while recovering from a hairline fracture of her right ankle suffered during game two of FSU’s match with Virginia on October 3rd.
    Ranked Opponents Remain

  • Of Florida State’s final five regular-season matches, three are against ranked opponents. The Lady Semnioles face #4 Florida and #22 North Carolina on the road this week. Last Friday in Tully Gym, Florida State posted a strong showing against ACC-foe #14 Clemson, winning game one before losing the momentum and falling in four games. (Rankings through November 2nd)

  • OH Jennifer Werrick and MH Aisha Thornton have each topped 20 kills in three matches this season. Thornton notched 23 against Maryland on October 1st.
    Approaching 600

  • Head coach Dr. Cecile Reynaud is approaching the 600-victory plateau. She enters this week’s play with a total of 597 career victories, all as head coach of the Lady Seminoles.
    15-0 Win, It’s An Annual Event

  • Florida State powered past NC State 15-0 in game four on October 17th in Tully Gym to nail down its first ACC victory of the season. FSU now has four 15-0 game victories over the past three seasons, all at home. Florida State has not been shutout in a game since 1996.
