TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State senior James Ramsey has been named a finalist for The Fan’s Choice Award, which is presented by TD Ameritrade. This award is the first honor in college baseball that is strictly determined by the fans recognizing a player for displaying leadership, teamwork and integrity.
As one of 19 finalists, the senior captain was recently named ACC Player of the Year, becoming the fifth Seminole in school history to capture the honor and just the third outfielder. Ramsey, who was also named to the All-ACC first team for the second year in a row, brings the honor back to Florida State after Buster Posey took the title in 2008.
Through the ACC tournament, Ramsey ranks in the top 10 in the ACC in eight offensive categories, while leading the league in runs scored (69), total bases (134), on-base percentage (.515) and slugging percentage (.673). As a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and Golden Spikes Award, the Alpharetta, Ga. native is hitting .382 on the year with 10 doubles, six triples and 12 homeruns. Ramsey has started all 58 games in centerfield and is posting a perfect fielding percentage in 139 attempts.
