The 16th-ranked Seminoles (26-8) fell to 13th-ranked Wisconsin (27-9) in the Sweet 16 round, 3-1 at the State Farm Center at the University of Illinois. The Badgers moved on to defeat Purdue in the Elite Eight, advancing to the 2013 NCAA Volleyball Championships in Seattle, Wash. this weekend.

Walch led the Seminole attack against the Badgers with 16 kills and 16 digs. The Stuart, Fla. native spearheaded the attack throughout the NCAA Tournament for the Seminoles, posting three-consecutive double-doubles, while averaging 4.08 kills per set.

“I’m very proud of Nicole,” head coach Chris Poole said.  “Nicole graduated high school early to be here spring of her senior year in high school and by having two spring semesters of training, she played more like an upperclassman this year, although she was only a sophomore.  She is a very competitive individual and will continue improving with her work habits and desire to be the best.”
