Westbrook Finishes Tied For Eighth At Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
Florida State’s Rick Westbrook finished in a tie for eighth place in the individual standings and the Seminoles finished in 15th place at the 10th-annual Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship at the Sawgrass Country Club as competition finished Tuesday. Westbrook enjoyed a phenomenal tournament and finished with a four-under par score of 212 for the three rounds. He shot below par in two of the three rounds and averaged 70.67 strokes per round for the tournament.


Westbrook (Alto, Ga.) entered the final round of 18 holes in a tie for 10th place and shot the seventh-best individual score of the day, a two-under par 70. He improved his individual standing by two places with his performance in the final round. Westbrook, who is playing his first season at Florida State, improved his position by two places and cut two strokes from his score in the final round.


Overall, it was a strong round for the Seminoles. In addition to Westbrook’s stellar round of 70, seniors Kris Hannah (Tallahassee, Fla.) and Mark Donaldson (Kirkaldy, Scotland) shot three-over par scores of 72 in the third round. Hannah played consistently well during the two-day tournament and finished with a three-day total of 227 (11-over par). Hannah was followed closely by Donaldson who shot three rounds in the 80’s and finished with a score of 231 (15-over par).
