Westbrook Leads Seminole Men’s Golf Team At Country Club Of Louisiana

BATON ROUGE, La. –
Junior Rick Westbrook shot a career-low 69 in the second round to lead the Florida State men’s golf team to a 13th place standing after day one of the Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate at the CCLA Golf Course on Monday. Westbrook’s two-under par 69 was the second best single-round score of the season for the Seminoles.


Tulsa leads the tournament with a two-round total of 566. The Golden Hurricane shot back-to-back rounds of 283. Tulsa passed No. 8 ranked Alabama Birmingham in the second round to take over the team lead.


Westbrook’s 69 in the second round was the largest round-to-round improvement of the 77 golfers in the event. He shot a 78 and stood in 60th place after the first round. Westbrook improved his score by nine strokes and his placement by 42 positions heading in to the third round.


Westbrook, from Alto, Ga., entered the tournament averaging 73.78 strokes through nine rounds and three tournaments this fall. His previous low round was a 70 in the first round of the Kiawah Island Invitational on Sept. 11.


The Seminoles conclude play in the three-round tournament with an 18-hole shotgun start Tuesday morning.
