Senior All-American Caroline Westrup shot a two-over par 74 and is in a tie for fifth place in the individual standings and the Seminole women’s golf team is in eighth place after the first two rounds of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic at the Coco Beach Golf Course. Westrup enters the final round of play only one stroke behind a group of four leaders as she competes for the fifth individual tournament title of her Seminole career.
Purdue holds the team lead heading into the third and final round after finishing the second round as the only team in the event with a team total below 300. The Boilermakers begin play in the final round with a 10 stroke lead over Georgia. The Seminoles begin play in the final round only six strokes from finishing in the top five of the team standings.
Westrup carded a two-over par 74 and has a two-round total of 147. The group of four leaders has a 36-hole total of 146 leaving the three-time All-American on the cusp of moving into the lead in the individual standings. Westrup has a great history in the final round of her 29 collegiate tournaments with 17 rounds at par or lower including three scores of 66 over her final 18 holes during her career.
Senior Sara Young played well as she improved her score by two strokes and is in a tie for 33rd place in the individual standings with a 36-hole total of 156. She was one of two Seminoles to improve her score on the second day as compared to the first round of play.
The final round of the tournament will be played on Tuesday.
