Westrup Leads Seminoles At LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic

BATON ROUGE, La. –
Florida State freshman Caroline Westrup shot a final round 74 and finished in a tie for 31st place in the individual standings and the Seminole women’s golf team finished in a tie for 11th place in the team standings as play at the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic at the University Club was completed Sunday afternoon. Westrup finished the tournament three strokes over par over the final two rounds as she was playing in the first event of her Seminole career.

Auburn, led by two players who finished in the top-10 of the individual standings, won the tournament title. The Tigers defeated fellow SEC member LSU by two strokes as the two finished with identical 287 team scores in the third and final round. Auburn bested LSU by one stroke in both the first and second rounds to earn the victory. Jacqui Concolino of Vanderbilt earned the individual victory with a six-under par total of 210.

Westrup recovered from a tough first round score of 79 to close with scores of 73 and 74 in the final two rounds of the event. She finished with a 10-over par score of 226. Westrup joined the Seminoles at the semester break and was playing in her first collegiate tournament this weekend.
