Florida State freshman Shante Williams has been named the ACC Co-Rookie of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon. Williams led the Seminoles with averages of 16.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.0 steals in FSU’s two ACC road games last week. The point guard scored a career-high 18 points in 25 minutes of play and grabbed seven rebounds at No. 1 Duke. In the win at Clemson, she recorded her first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and also added a team-high six assists and a team-high five steals while committing just one turnover in a team-high 31 minutes of play. Williams shot 40 percent from the field in the two games and was 11-for-12 from the free throw line for 92 percent.
On the year, Williams has played in all 14 games with 11 starts and is averaging 8.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. She has led the team in assists 12 times, in scoring twice and in rebounding twice. She has played 20 or more minutes in every game and is averaging just 2.6 turnovers while running the floor. Williams has scored in double figures in four games and had double-digit rebounds in two games. She ranks third on the team in scoring, third in rebounding and first in assists, steals and defensive rebounds. Against ranked opponents, she is averaging 9.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. In ACC stats, she ranks 28th in scoring, 4th in assists per game, 8th in steals per game and 8th in defensive rebounds per game. Her assist-turnover ratio is 7th in the ACC.
