Women Begin Competing at NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

Three Florida State swimmers began competition Thursday, March 18 at the 2010 NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships in West Lafayette, Indiana on the campus of Purdue University. Stephanie Sarandos, Charlotte Broadbent and Marissa Harrington each competed in one event on the meet’s opening day.

In her second NCAA meet, sophomore Sarandos earned a 56th place finish in the 200 IM prelims with a time of 2:02.04. Making their first NCAA appearances, freshman Harrington and sophomore Broadbent both competed in the 500 free prelims and finished 52nd and 54th respectively with “B” cut times of 4:48.80 and 4:49.18.

The Seminoles return to the pool tomorrow where Sarandos will compete in the 100 back and Broadbent will compete in the 400 IM. On Saturday, the final day of the meet, Sarandos will compete in the 200 back while Broadbent and Harrington compete in the 1650 free.
