TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – For the second straight semester the women’s swimming and diving team earned a Scholar All-America status for the spring of 2012 announced by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.

“I am extremely proud of our swimmers and divers for achieving this,” head coach Neil Harper said. “Our assistant coaches and academic advisors inspire our team to maintain their high standards.”

The CSCAA recognizes swimming and diving teams as Scholar All-Americans that obtain a 3.0 cumulative GPA throughout the semester.

Individually, four Seminoles were selected to the Scholar All-America Team in Julia Henkel, Elizabeth Pepper, Ariel Rittenhouse and Tom Neubacher. Six were listed as honorable mentions in Melissa Cooper, Marissa Harrington, Kristine Polley, Tori Richmond, Stephanie Sarandos and Nick Klein.

“I think this is the highest honor as a student athlete,” Harper said. “To become an Academic All American you have to qualify and compete at the NCAA Championships and achieve or maintain a GPA of 3.5 or better. It’s the ultimate achievement of athletic and academic success and at the highest standard.”
