Florida State lost its ninth straight game in an 80-68 decision at Wake Forest on Monday, Feb. 15.
The Seminoles led just one time in the first half at 4-3, but Wake went on a 12-3 run to go up by its largest lead of the half at eight points FSU pulled to within one point twice in the remaining eight minutes of the half, but could not take the lead. The Seminoles trailed 32-36 at the break.
In the second half, FSU fell behind by seven before making its comeback. Down 40-47, the Tribe ran off nine of the game’s next 12 points to again pull within a point. FSU came within one twice more before finally taking a lead at 58-56 with 8:09 to play. The Seminoles went ahead by five at 61-56 just 40 seconds later, but the Deacons came back to tie the game at 65-65 with just over three minutes left. Wake’s Alisha Mosley hit one of the Deacon’s 11 three-pointers of the game to give Wake the lead for good. Wake Forest scored15 of the games final 18 points for the 12 point victory.
FSU could not contain the Deacons on the boards and were outrebounded by 27 — the most of the season. April Traylor led FSU with 16 points while Brooke Wyckoff added 11 points and six rebounds and Angela Sutton scored 13 points off of the bench.
Wake was led by Janae Whiteside’s 16 points. She was 5-for-8 from beyond the arc.
