THE SERIES
Florida State has a 1-0 advantage over UNC-Asheville. In the one meeting
between the two schools, FSU won 99-58 in Tallahassee on December 2, 1988.

FSU IN SEASON-OPENERS
The Seminoles have an 18-9 overall record in season-openers dating back to
the 1973-74 season. FSU has won 12 of its last 13 season-openers,
including six straight. Dating back to the 1980-81 season when FSU game
sites were recorded, the Seminoles have a 16-4 record in home openers.

DID YOU KNOW…
Seniors Brooke Wyckoff and Vanessa Fuchs were chosen team captains this
season… the Seminoles won their four games in Europe by an average of 47
points… FSU will have seven regular-season games on television and 16
regular season games on radio.

LEVYS IS LOOKING GOOD
Senior Levys Torres recorded a career-high 17 rebounds to go along with her
14 points in FSU’s first exhibition vs. the Premier Players. The Colombia,
South America native also notched a double-double in the second exhibition
a with 17 points and 11 rebounds in the Norkopping game. Overall, she
averaged 15.5 points, 14.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game in the
preseason.

WYCKOFF IS BECOMING GO-TO PLAYER
Senior Brooke Wyckoff has become much more aggressive in the preseason in
the scoring department. The West Chester, Ohio, native averaged 27.5
points in the two exhibitions, but also dished off the ball with 4.5
assists per game. She averaged 10.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per game last
season.

VANESSA IS TOPS IN ACADEMICS
Senior Vanessa Fuchs garnered her fourth-straight Golden Torch Award for
the academic student-athlete for women’s basketball. Fuchs has maintained
a 3.86 GPA in Media Productions.

APRIL CUTTING DOWN HER TURNOVERS
Junior guard April Traylor, who played point guard last season, will be
cutting down her turnovers in her natural two-guard position. In one
exhibition game, Traylor had 24 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and just 3
turnovers in 36 minutes of play.

THE INJURY BUG
Unfortunately, the injury bug has struck the FSU women’s basketball team in
the preseason. Sophomores Shinikki Whiting and Lauren Bradley have been
slowed by injuries while sophomore Molly Beal is out of action for four
more weeks. Whiting is recovering from a torn ACL of her right knee
suffered in the spring. Bradley is still nursing a tender right foot while
Beal underwent a right knee scope in mid-October to remove bone fragments
and will be out four more weeks. Bradley and Whting are expected to see
action.
