The Florida State women’s basketball team will head to Jacksonville for a 7 p.m. tilt with the Dolphins on Wednesday, December 18th. The game can be heard on WFLA AM 1270 in the Tallahassee area or through the webcast on www.seminoles.com. Wednesday’s meeting will be just the second meeting between FSU (6-1) and Jacksonville (2-4), a fourth-year program.
Last season was the first meeting between Florida State and Jacksonville. FSU earned a 97-51 victory and the game was played in Tallahassee. The Dolphins are just a fourth-year program and have a 25-64 record overall.
ABOUT LAST YEAR’S GAME:
The game marked FSU’s second straight game shooting over 50 percent and fourth of the year. The 97 points was the most JU has given up while the 46-point margin is the Dolphins worst loss in the JU program, which was in its third year of existence at the time. The margin of victory ranks tied for seventh on FSU’s list of wins by margin.
FSU’s 82-78 win at South Florida was the program’s first road win in nearly a year. Prior to USF, Florida State’s last road win was a 78-68 victory at IUPUI on December 21, 2001. If FSU wins at Jacksonville, it will be the first time the Seminoles have won three straight away games since 1990-91. That year, FSU defeated Florida (12/17), Miami (12/19) and Virginia Tech (1/7). FSU did win three straight road games back in 1999-2000, but one of those wins was at a neutral site.
