TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The 2-0 women’s basketball team will host the 5th Annual Tallahassee Democrat Seminole Classic this weekend. The Seminoles welcome East Tennessee State, Akron and Saint Joseph’s to Tallahassee. Akron and Saint Joe’s will play at 2 p.m. on Saturday and the Seminoles will follow with a 4 p.m. match up with East Tennessee State. The consolation and championship games will be played on Sunday and 2 and 4 p.m. All action will be played at the Leon County Civic Center.

The Seminoles are coming off a very successful venture to the U.S. Virgin Islands. Florida State earned the Paradise Jam Tournament title with decisive wins over Saint Mary’s, an NCAA Tournament team last year, and Dayton. She led the team in scoring in both games, including a career-high 27 points in the Saint Mary’s game. Overall, the Clearwater, Fla., native averaged 22.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals. She also led the team in minutes played and in three-point baskets with six. Senior April Traylor, who notched her first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds vs. Saint Mary’s, was named to the Paradise Jam All-Tournament Team. She averaged 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in the two games.
