Sunday’s game will mark the ninth meeting between Florida State and Auburn. The Tigers have an 8-1 advantage in the series which dates back to the 1973-74 season. That first meeting is FSU’s lone victory over the Tigers. The last meeting between FSU and Auburn was last season on December 16, 2001. The Seminoles fell 71-59 in Auburn.
A LITTLE R & R
The Seminoles spent their spring break (March 10-16) in Tallahassee, continuing practice for the postseason. But FSU did have a break. Prior to the FIU game, the Tribe hadn’t played a game since March 8th – a 12-day rest. It seems as though the rest and relaxation did indeed do the team some good as with 77 points in the win over FIU, FSU scored its most points since January 5th.
IT’S LATE BUT NOT THE LATEST
FSU’s game vs. Auburn on March 22nd will mark the second latest date the Seminoles have played in a season. Back in 1982, FSU’s last NIT appearance, FSU fell to Oregon in the championship game on March 27th. TheFIU game on March 20th marked the latest time for a home game. The last time FSU played a home game in the month of March was in the 1990-91 season when the Tribe hosted first and second round NCAA Tournament games.
