Women’s Golf in 11th Place after Two Rounds

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida State women’s golf team is in 11th place after two rounds of the Lady Gator SunTrust Invitational at the University Course in Gainesville, FL. The Lady Seminoles fired a team score of 319 on Saturday to stand one stroke behind the University of South Florida.

Seniors Erika Iding and Amy Spooner lead the Tribe after posting a two-round total of 157. Spooner fired a 79 in the second round and Iding added a 77 to her opening round 80 to stand tied for 31st. Amy Bond struggled in the second round with an 82 after posting the low first round for the Lady Seminoles with a 76 on Friday. Sarah Capie and Louise Wright rounded out the scoring for FSU, standing tied for 51st at 162.

The University of Georgia holds a 12-stroke lead over the Gators for the overall lead. Lindsay Smith of Furman is the individual leader with a total of even-par 144.

The final round of the tournament will be played on Sunday morning.
