The Florida State women’s golf team, which has earned eight top 10 team finishes, will play in the 2013 NCAA West Regional Championship marking the school-record eighth consecutive NCAA appearance for the Seminoles. The Seminoles will travel to the Stanford University Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif., for the event which runs May 9-11, 2013. The Seminoles are one of 72 teams that were selected to the NCAA Regional field with 24 teams competing at each of three sites. The Central Regional Championship will take place at the Jimmie Austin Golf Club at the University of Oklahoma and the East Regional Championship is at the Auburn University Club in Auburn, Ala. In addition to the 24 teams participating at each of the three regions, a total of six individuals have been selected to play at each site.

THE 2013 NCAA EAST REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD Florida State is joined by No. 1 ranked Southern California, No. 6 Arizona, No. 7 Vanderbilt, No. 12 Purdue, No. 14 Stanford, No. 18 Georgia, No. 19 Baylor, No. 24 Texas A&M, Louisiana State, Denver, South Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, UNLV, California, Miami, San Jose State, Harvard, Kent State, Northern Arizona, North Dakota State and Long Island University in the 2013 NCAA West Regional Championships. The event will be played on the Stanford University Golf Course. The Stanford University Golf Course was designed in 1930 by renowned golf course architects William Bell and George C. Thomas. Located in the foothills above the Stanford University Campus, the golf course is consistently rated one of the finest courses in the world. In 2009 the Stanford University Golf Course was rated as the nation’s third best college course by golf coaches.

NEGRON NAMED TO ALL-ACC TEAM Senior Jessica Negron, who will lead the Seminoles into the NCAA West Regional Championship May 9-11 at the Stanford University Golf Course, has been named to the All-ACC Women’s Golf team in a vote by the league’s nine head coaches and announced by the ACC Office. It marks the first time in her career that she has earned All-ACC honors and is the school-record 13th consecutive season at least one Seminole player has earned All-ACC honors. Negron (Ocala, Fla.) is the No. 6 ranked golfer in the ACC with a career-low 74.11 stroke average and has earned three top-10 finishes this year. She has been Florida State’s leading golfer in five of the Seminoles’ seven events this spring and finished in a career-best tied for third place at the Florida State Match-Up tournament in February.

Florida State has played in all but five championships since the NCAA adopted the regional qualifying format in 1993. The Seminoles have made 20 regional appearances and nine championship round appearances in the last 29 years. Florida State has finished in the national top-20 in four of the last nine years and finished in a program best 10th place in the NCAA Championship finals in 2010. Florida State will compete in the NCAA West Regional Championship for the first time in school history in 2013. Caroline Larsson holds the school record for the best single round score in an NCAA regional championship with a 68 in the third round of the 2004 East Regional Championship. Maria Salinas at East Regional Championship won the school’s first individual regional championship in 2012.

Florida State head coach Amy Bond has now guided each of her first three teams to the NCAA Tournament. Including her four years as a Seminole player (1996-99) and her five years as a Seminole assistant coach (2002-06), Bond has participated in 10 of 12 NCAA Regional Championships while wearing the Garnet and Gold.
