Women’s Golfer Wins Ryder-Florida State Championships

Junior Amy Bond fired three consecutive rounds of 73 to capture her first collegiate tournament title in the Ryder-Florida State Championships on Sunday. Bond entered the day tied for second place, but her 73 was two better than Riko Higashio of Florida who fired a 75 in the final round.

The team finished tied for third with South Florida and Central Florida after a final-round team total of 311 on Sunday at the Miami Lakes Country Club. The Lady Seminoles finished with a team score of 941, well back of second-place Miami.

Amy Spooner fired her best round of the weekend on Sunday with a 76 and a tournament total of 234. Spooner finished alone in 17th place. Sarah Capie finished in 38th position with a three-round total of 246. Louise Wright ended one stroke back of Capie after an 81 in the final round. She finished tied for 39th with Amy Schick of Jacksonville. Erika Iding rounded out the scoring, finishing tied for 47th at 251.

The Lady Seminoles will return to action next weekend in Greensboro for the ACC Championships.
