Women’s Soccer Defeats FIU

October 6, 1998

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In a double overtime game, Florida State women’s
soccer defeated Florida International 1-0 at the site of the Seminole
Soccer Complex. Florida State improves to 4-7-1 on the year as the Golden
Panthers drop to 5-6.

“We dominated most of the playing today,” Head Coach Heather Kerby-Nelson
said. “We found our wings and made no defensive mental errors which was the
key to our success.”

Both teams remained scoreless in the regulation and the first sudden
death overtime. Sophomore Sally Shelgren scored the winning goal two
minutes into the second overtime off a cross from Senior Alex Osorio.

Florida State returns to action as they host South Florida on Friday at
7pm and host Jacksonville on Saturday at 7pm. Matches will be played at the
site of the Seminole Soccer Complex.
