Women’s Soccer Loses to #5 Florida

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State women’s soccer team held the
University of Florida to one goal until the last minute of the game before
the Gators scored their second goal taking the win 2-0. The Seminoles had
their best outing against the Gators tonight in front of a crowd of 1,046
at the site of the Seminole Soccer Complex.

“We played the most disciplined game of the season tonight,” said Head
Coach Heather Kerby Nelson. “It was one of our best performances this year
and our best ever against Florida.”

Florida scored their first goal in the 29th minute when Heather Mitts
knocked in a 30 yard free kick. The Seminoles held the Gators to one goal
until the 89th minute of the game when Erin Baxter scored off a double
assist from Melissa Pini and Adrianne Moreira, giving Florida the 2-0 win.

The Seminoles drop to 4-9-2 as Florida improves to 12-1-0. Florida State
will travel to Stetson on Thursday, October 15 for a 4pm match-up with the
Hatters in DeLand.
