Women’s Soccer Ties Georgia State, 1-1

TALLAHASSEE, FL — In the driving rain and wind, Florida State women’s soccer tied with Georgia State 1-1 tonight at the site of the Seminole Soccer Complex. The Seminoles go to 3-6-1 as the Panthers go to 7-1-1.

Both teams remained scoreless until the second half when a hand ball by Georgia State in the goal box gave the Seminoles a penalty kick. Marte Vik Edvardsen took the kick and scored the first goal of the match at 62:22. With time running out, Georgia State played a pass from Audra Sherman to Alisa Thwing and then to Chandra Yogason who scored the tying goal at the 89:54 mark. The teams went into two sudden death overtimes before the game was called at the tie.

Florida State returns to action on Friday, October 2 as they travel to Miami for a 4pm match with the Hurrianes. FSU will host Florida
International in their next home game next Tueday, October 6 at 3pm
