Women’s Swim Team Competes in ACC Championships

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Florida State women’s swim team will compete in the 1999 ACC Championships this weekend, hosted by the University of Maryland. Competition begins Thursday, February 18 and concludes Saturday, February 20.

The Lady Seminoles look to improve on their 6th place finish at the 1998 championships. Anne Blachford led the team with a 2nd place finish in the 100 Breast, 4th in the 200 Breast, 5th in the 200 IM and was named to the All-ACC Team. Samantha White added a 3rd place finish in the 100 Breast and 9th in the 200 Breast as Kristen Adams took 6th in the 200 Free, 8th in the 100 Free and 9th in the 500 Free. The 800 Free Relay team of Adams, Tenelle Ramer, Megan Bradley and Ann Parker took the 3rd spot in the event. In diving action, Marya Sabesky finished 7th on the 3-meter and 10th on the 1-meter as Sarah Henderson finished 4th on the 1-meter.

FSU is 4-4 going into the competition, including a win over NC State and a loss to Virginia. Competition begins each day at 11:00am with the preliminaries followed by the finals at 7:00pm.
