Week in Review

The Lady Seminoles took the week off for the holidays after finishing their 1998 home season with a 91-152 loss to the Lady Gators at Bobby E. Leach Aquatic Center.

Past Action

The Lady Seminoles started the season off with wins over IRCC(153-83) and FAU(167-72) and a loss to Miami (103-138) in a quad meet at Miami. The women then headed out west to take on Washington State and came home with a win 113-91. The Lady Seminoles took a win over N.C. State as well early in the season as they defeated the Wolfpack 126-117.

This year on the Women’s Squad

after last year’s 5-2 record and sixth place finish at the ACC’s, this year’s women’s squad looks very promising. The return of All-American’s Anne Blachford and Samantha White and a solid recruiting class will provide the necessary strength to score at the NCAA Champioships.

Blachford spent the first part of last season on the pool deck after breaking her collarbone but returned to finish 2nd in the 100 Breast at the ACC’s while White, a senior co-captain, finished 3rd inthe 100 Breast at the ACC’s. Senior Sherri Fowler and sophomore Kristen Adams return as top point scorers. The diving squad returns two divers, Marya Sabesky and Kirsti Carrihill, and welcome Caren Hirai to their squad.

NCAA hopefuls and newcomers Tanya Gurr, Summer Washburn and Amber Goodwin will add to the scoring at ACC’s and NCAA’s. Brianna Kloote, Lisa Kirsch and Amber McClain will add depth and points for the Lady Seminoles.
