ATLANTA, GA — The Florida State women’s tennis team defeated the No. 9
seed University of North Carolina 7-2 to move to the quarterfinals of the
Atlantic Coast Conference tournament in Atlanta, GA. The Lady Seminoles,
seeded in eighth in the tournament, will next face the top seeded Duke Blue
Devils on Friday. With the win, Florida State improves it’s overall record
to 12-10 on the season.
FSU opened the match by taking four of the six singles matches. Winners
for the Lady Seminoles were 2 Nanette Duxin, 3 Kia Asberg, 5 Sasha
Hanna, and 6 Kylie Thompson.
The ladies followed up their strong showing in singles by sweeping the doubles points. The No. 1 doubles team of Asberg and Hanna defeated Cena Hackler and Erin Niebling to clinch the match.
