Women’s Tennis Completes San Diego State Tournament

SAN DIEGO – The Florida State women’s tennis team wrapped up tough play at the San Diego State University Fall Classic on Saturday.  The Seminoles will continue the fall campaign this week and look for home court advantage as FSU hosts the 2005 Seminole Fall Classic on Nov. 11-13 at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.  The tournament will be the final outing for the team this year.


Freshman Lisa Nytrom Skold was the lone Seminole to earn a victories in singles play this weekend as she collected two victories before losing to Rice’s Medeja Egic in three sets (3-6, 6-4, 7-5) during the semifinal round of the Gold draw. 


In the singles Red draw, freshman Suzanna Mansour fell to ACC foe Lyndsey Shosho of Georgia Tech, 6-4, 6-3.  Junior transfer Whitney Eber lost a 6-2, 2-6, 11-9 battle to Helene Lindstand of USD in the Black draw.  After receiving a first round bye, senior Alina Mihailescu came up short to Rice’s Kimberley Patenaude by scores of 7-6 (6), 6-2, in the Gold bracket. 


As for doubles action, FSU also had a tough day on the courts.  The Mansour/Eber tandem dropped an 8-4 contest to Nielsen/Hauerlandova of San Diego State and the Nytrom Skold/Mihailescu pair fell 8-0 to New Mexico‘s Quinal/Sotirchos team.
