Women’s Tennis Defeats Jacksonville On The Road

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida State women’s tennis team defeated the Dolphins of Jacksonville University, 5-1, Thursday afternoon at the Alexander Brest Tennis Complex in Jacksonville, Fla. With the win, the Seminoles’ record moves to 6-3. In a decision made by the coaches prior to the match, only singles matches were played in the contest.


In singles action, the Seminoles were dominant as their five wins came in straight sets. At the no. 1 singles position, senior Alida Gallovits defeated Tiffany Pinciotti 6-1, 6-4. Christina Denny also won her no. 3 singles match against Dorien Geertsema, 7-5, 6-2. At the no. 4, no. 5 and no. 6 positions, freshmen Lauren Walker, Meredith Fish and Amber Tantee also tallied wins for the Seminoles.


The Seminoles return to action Saturday, February 23rd, when they travel to Mobile, Ala. to take on the Jaguars of the University of South Alabama. The Seminoles will then travel to Tuscaloosa to face the 24th ranked Crimson Tide of the University of Alabama Sunday, February 24th. The Seminoles return home on March 1st to face the Miami Hurricanes.
