Women’s Tennis Defeats South Florida

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida State women’s tennis team defeated the
University of South Florida, 6-3, Friday afternoon at the Scott Speicher
Tennis Center in Tallahassee to improve their record to 4-5 on the season.

The Seminoles took four of the six singles matches to take a commanding
lead going into the doubles play of the match. Florida State was led by
Ali Weber at No. 2 singles who defeated Katherine Tessier in straight sets
6-1, 6-3. Other winners for FSU in singles were No. 3 Kia Asberg, No. 4
Sasha Hanna and No. 5 Natalie Carratala.

Florida State clinched the match when the No. 2 doubles team of Carratala
and Nanette Duxin defeated Alicia Kerstyn and Jacqueline Bunting 8-3. The
other victory at doubles came at No. 3 where Weber and Helena Karlsson
defeated Maria-Eve Girard and Karin Stigh 8-5.

The Seminoles play again tomorrow, Saturday, when they face in state rival the University of Miami at 11:00 a.m. at the Speicher Tennis Center.
