Women’s Tennis Defeats Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Florida State women’s tennis teams defeated the
University of Virginia 5-4 on Sunday at Charlottesville to snap a three
game slide and gain their first ACC win. After the victory, the Seminoles
record now stands at 3-5 and 1-3 in the ACC.

The Seminoles started the match by taking four of the six singles
matches. Leading the way was No. 2 singles player Nanette Duxin who
defeated Stacy Gingold 6-3, 6-4. Other FSU winners at singles were No. 3
Helena Karlsson, No. 5 Sasha Hanna and No. 6 Kylie Thompson who played her
first singles match of the season for the Noles.

The No. 2 doubles squad of Duxin and Natalie Carratala defeated Paige
Boiko and Kendall White 8-5 to clinch the match for the Seminoles and win
their only doubles match of the contest.

Florida State return home to play again on March 6th when they face South
Florida at 2:00 pm at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in Tallahassee.
