Women’s Tennis Falls to Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla.— Florida State women’s tennis player Ali Weber upset #8
nationally ranked Dawn Buth of the University of Florida in straight sets
6-4, 6-3 Wednesday at the Scott Linder Tennis Stadium in Gainesville. For
Weber, who is not currently ranked in the top 100 college women tennis
players, it was her second straight set victory over a nationally ranked
player in the past week. Saturday she beat 35th ranked Anita Buggins of
Georgia Southern. Weber is now 2-0 when playing at the #1 position for the
Lady Seminoles in dual match play.

On the day, Weber was the lone win for the ladies who dropped the match
to Florida 8-1 and moved their record to 2-2 on the season. The second
closest match came at No. 3 doubles where Weber and Helena Karlsson fell to
Bonnie Bleecker and M.C. White 8-5.

The next match for the Lady Seminoles will be on February 21st at 11:00
a.m. when they travel to Atlanta to open up ACC play against the Georgia
Tech Yellow Jackets.
