Women’s Tennis Has Six Athletes Ranked in ITA Preseason Ranking

Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2017 Oracle ITA Collegiate Tennis Women’s Division I Preseason Rankings on Tuesday. The Florida State women’s tennis team nabbed three ranked doubles pairs with the pairing of sophomore Andrea Garcia and Junior Julia Mikulski at No. 27, sophomore Nandini Das and junior Ariana Rahmanparast at No. 33 and freshman Lucie Prochazkova and senior Gabriella Castaneda at No. 54. Mikulski was the lone Seminole ranked in singles at No. 86.

Garcia and partner Mikulski finished last season ranked No. 65 and with a 10-12 overall record. Garcia and Mikulski went 9-8 on court one and came away with a 5-3 record in the ACC and a 4-3 record against nationally ranked doubles pairs.

The duo of Das and Rahmanparast finished 2017 ranked No. 82 and with the most doubles wins on the team, 19. Das and Rahmanparast played most of their matches at the No. 2 position ending with a 14-5 record.  The pair was 6-3 in ACC play and 1-3 against nationally ranked pairs.

Castaneda and Prochazkova rounded out the Seminoles ranked in the Top-60 doubles pairs as the duo came in at No. 54. Castaneda ended the 2017 season ranked No. 81 with former Seminole Daniela Schippers. She was fourth on the team in doubles victories with an 18-6 record. Castaneda helped lead the team from court three with 16 of her 18 wins coming in the No. 3 doubles position. Castaneda was 6-1 in the ACC and 1-0 against ranked doubles pairs.

The Noles only had one player ranked in the Top-125 ranked singles, Julia Mikulski. Mikulski is ranked No. 82 after finishing 2017 with a 15-16 record. She had her most success on court two, where she achieved a 5-1 record. Mikulski lead the team in ACC singles matches as she finished with an 8-2 record, two more wins than anyone else on the team.
