TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State women’s tennis team are looking for a big win this Sunday when they take on the Lady Commodores of Vanderbilt, who are ranked number four in the ITA Preseason Rankings. First, though, the Seminoles will have to take on the Georgia Southern Lady Eagles.
The Seminoles have never lost a match against the Lady Eagles, who have played the
Seminoles in each of the last six seasons. Georgia Southern features a young squad with only one senior, two juniors, two sophomores and two freshmen. Florida State is Georgia Southern’s first dual match event of the season.
The match against Vanderbilt will be challenging for the Lady Seminoles. The Seminoles have only won two decisions against the Lady Commodores in nine previous attempts. The Lady Seminoles have not faced a Vanderbilt team since 1999. This season’s Vanderbilt team features two seniors, one junior, three sophomores and three freshman.
Florida State’s match-up against Georgia Southern will begin at noon Saturday, January 26th. On Sunday, January 27th, the Lady Seminoles take on Vanderbilt at 11 a.m. Both matches will be at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center and admission is free to the public.
