ATLANTA, GA. — The 22nd-ranked Florida State Lady Seminoles lost
in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament Saturday to the 3rd-ranked Wake
Forest Demon Deacons 5-0. The Lady Seminoles will head into the NCAA
Tournament with an overall record of 16-8. Wake Forest will advance to
face the 12-time defending ACC Champions Duke Blue Devils in the finals on
Sunday.

Florida State, the No. 5 seed in the tournament, was unable to grab
a point against the top-seeded Demon Deacons. Wake Forest’s Adria Engle
defeated FSU’s Alida Gallovits at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-3. Gallovits’ loss
to the fifth-ranked player in the country was just her ninth of the season
and leaves her with a 15-9 dual match record.

FSU’s Kia Asberg dropped just her fifth match of the dual match
season on Saturday to the Demon Deacons’ Bea Bielik at No. 2 singles.
Asberg’s record stands at 28-8 overall and 19-5 in dual matches. It was
reported on Friday that Asberg’s record was 19-8 in dual matches after her
win against Georgia Tech. Asberg’s correct record is 19-5 following her
loss Saturday to the country’s 19th-ranked player from Wake Forest.

Florida State lost at the No. 4 through No. 6 singles positions to
go down to the Demon Deacons 5-0. The Lady Seminoles will await word from
the NCAA to find out where they will play in the 2000 NCAA Tournament. The
NCAA selection show will take place on May 4th.
