TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The 19th-ranked Florida State Seminoles, despite
the unfavorable weather, defeated the Georgia Southern Eagles by a score of
8 to 1.

The Seminoles swept the singles half of the match by winning all
six matches without losing a set. At No. 1 singles, Alida Gallovits, who
is ranked 32nd in the country, defeated Isabella Kling by a score of 6-2,
6-4. Gallovits revenged the loss she suffered last year to Kling in
straight set tie-breakers. While Gallovits teammate Nanette Duxin was
securing a victory against England native Martha Barrett 6-4, 6-0, Jessica
Balbuena defeated Jennifer Runnion by a score of 6-2, 6-1. In singles
positions four through six, the Florida State Seminoles Kia Asberg, Ali
Weber and Marina Raic won all three matches while only dropping three total
games.

Despite the loss at No. 1 doubles, the duo of Weber and Balbuena
played a stong match against Kling and McNamee, by a score of 8-4. At No. 2
doubles, Gallovits and Duxin defeated Barrett and Runnion 8-1, and at No. 3
doubles the senior/sophomore duo of Asberg and Raic defeated the
freshman/sophomore duo of Reilly and Nance by a score of 8-3.

The next date the Seminoles have with the courts is against
Vanderbilt University on February 4 in Nashville, Tennessee.
