WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest (17-8, 5-6 ACC) lost its third straight ACC contest in Reynolds Gym on Saturday night. The Deacons bowed out in three games to Florida State (17-7, 7-3 ACC), 3-0. It was the Seminoles sixth overall victory over Wake Forest.
The Deacons fought hard in games one and two, falling by scores of 15-11 and 15-10. Aisha Thornton, one of four Lady Seminoles with double figure kills, led Florida State with 15 kills and a .714 hitting percentage. Three of those four FSU players finished with double figures in digs as well: LaToya Washington, Jennifer Werrick and Holly Schneider.
Wake Forest committed 26 errors in 153 attempts for a lowly hitting percentage of .092. The Deacons also committed eight receiving errors. Sophomore Corie Miles led the Deacons with 10 kills. Freshman Trina Maso de Moya had a game-high 19 digs for WFU.
The Deacons will return to action on Friday, Oct. 30. Wake Forest will take on NC State in Raleigh with a start time of 7:30 p.m.
