Series vs. Duke: Florida State trails 6-16, but the Lady Seminoles have won 3 of the last 4 meetings. The Lady Seminoles swept the Blue Devils in Tallahassee last season.

Series vs. Wake Forest: The Lady Seminoles lead 7-1. The Demon Deacons claimed their first-ever victory over FSU with a 3-0 win in Winston-Salem in September. Florida State is 3-0 against Wake Forest in Tallahassee but have never swept the Demon Deacons in Tully Gym.

Florida State made it two-in-a-row with a three-game sweep at Jacksonville Tuesday night. FSU outhit JU .259 to .122. Jennifer Werrick and Erica Bunch each tallied double-doubles.
Virginia 3, Florida State 0

The Cavaliers completed the season sweep of the Lady Seminoles with a 3-0 victory in Charlottesville. Virginia outhit FSU .374 to .155 and outblocked the Noles 10-2. Werrick led the team with 14 kills while Aisha Thornton tallied 13.

Maryland 3, Florida State 0

Florida State’s road struggles continued at College Park as Maryland swept the Lady Seminoles 3-0. The Terps outhit FSU .386 to .122. Werrick tallied Florida State’s lone double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs.

First Meeting of 1999: Duke tallied 11 service aces and outhit the Lady Seminoles .286 to .221 to down Florida State in four games in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Norisha Campbell pounded out 17 kills and notched 3 blocks and Aisha Thornton came up big at the net with seven blocks in the defeat.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Current Record: 20-6.

Conference: 7-4 in the ACC.

Lately: Wake Forest has won 7 of its last 8 matches as is 8-2 in the month of October.

First Meeting of 1999: Senior middle hitter Aisha Thornton posted 14 kills and 7 blocks at Wake Forest, but the Demon Deacons rallied for a 20-18 game two victory to steal the momentum enroute to a three-game sweep of the Lady Seminoles. Junior outside hitter Jennifer Werrick remained out of action for the second straight match to rest her sore ankles.

Head coach Dr. Cecile Reynaud is approaching the 600-victory plateau. She enters this week’s play with a total of 597 career victories, all as head coach of the Lady Seminoles.
Double-Digit Numbers

Junior outside hitter Jennifer Werrick has been FSU’s offensive leader throughout the season. Werrick has double-digit kill totals in 16 of 21 matches played in 1999. She has tallied 10 or more kills in 8 of 10 matches for the Lady Seminoles this month and recorded a career-high 27 kills against UT-Arlington on September 10th. She and MH Aisha Thornton have each topped 20 kills in three matches this season. Thornton notched 23 against Maryland on October 1st.
15-0 Win, It’s An Annual Event

Florida State powered past NC State 15-0 in game four Sunday in Tully Gym to nail down its first ACC victory of the season. The Lady Seminoles now have four 15-0 game victories over the past three seasons, all in Tully Gym.

Pound Practically Perfect on Serve

Sophomore outside hitter Elizabeth Pound led the way for Florida State in its 15-0 game four win against NC State Sunday. After Kensy Zulueta served the game’s first two points, Pound put in 13 straight serves as the Lady Seminoles rolled to their 15-0 victory. Pound, in fact, as lead the Lady Seminoles in service aces in 3 of FSU’s last 5 matches.
Wake Forest at Duke: Tuesday

Double-doubles from Julie Cowley, Katie Horne, and Trina Maso de Moya helped lead Wake Forest to a five-game victory over the Blue Devils in Durham on Tuesday. Sharon Harmsworth led Wake with 22 kills in the see-saw 8-15, 15-11, 15-5, 6-15, 19-17 win. Maso de Moya’s 24 digs were a team-high. For Duke, Dominique Phillip tallied a team-best 24 digs along with 13 digs. Six Blue Devils totaled 10 or more digs in the match with Josie Weymann leading Duke with 19. Dorrette Burwell added 17 kills for the Blue Devils in the defeat.
Injury Report

Only freshman outside hitter Kristin Frye remains out of action for the Lady Seminoles this weekend. Frye suffered a hairline fracture of her right ankle during game two of FSU’s match with Virginia on October 3rd.
