Wright Paces Women’s Golf Team At Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. –
Senior Louise Wright shot a two-over par 74 and
sophomore Kristin Tamulis carded a four-over par 76 to lead the Florida
State University women’s golf team in the first round of the Lady Paladin
Invitational at the Furman University Golf Course Friday. The Seminoles
finished the first round in 15th place in the team standings with a score
of 313 and are in striking distance of a number of teams at the top of the
standings.

Wright blistered the front-nine in Friday’s first round with a 35
to place among the early leaders. She shot a 39 on the back-nine to finish
with a 74. It marked the team-leading fourth time that she scored 75 or
below in a round this season. Wright’s score was also more than three
strokes better than her season average of 77.33. Tamulis finished the
first round with a score of 76 and begins play on Saturday in a tie for
34th place.

A trio of Seminoles – juniors Alison Zimmer (nine-over par 81) and
Kelley Henderson (10-over par 82) and freshman Alison Curdt (10-over par
82) played well for Florida State.

Celeste Troche of Auburn shot a stellar four-under par 68 and holds
the clubhouse lead after the first round. She is followed by Nuria Clau of
Wake Forest who is in second place with a two-under par 70. Furman, the
host school, is in second place in the team standings with a score of 295.
