TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Rising redshirt junior Katrina Young placed fifth in the women’s 10-meter platform competition at the World Championships Trials at the Morcom Aquatics Center. After 15 dives, the Shoreline, Wash. native tallied a total of 899.55 points.
“I’m trying to get back on the international scene,” Young said. “I let my nerves get to me that first dive. But then I decided to be in the moment for my next dive and make some kind of recovery.”
Young held her fifth place for every round of the event, adding a final score of 290.20 in front of the home crowd on Sunday.
“I really appreciate everyone cheering me on,” Young said. “It makes me feel like I have a gigantic family in Tallahassee and I’m from Seattle, so it’s a long ways away from my real home and I felt the love.”
