TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – Florida State plays host to five ACC teams who appeared in the NCAA Tournament with Clemson, Duke, Miami, NC State and Virginia Tech coming to the Donald L. Tucker Center during the 2018-19 season as the ACC released the 18 conference matchups for its 15 men’s basketball teams.
The Seminoles’ schedule with dates and times will be released in early September.
As one of two ACC to advance to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament in 2018, the Seminoles were one of 12 conference teams to play in either the NCAA Tournament or the NIT. Florida State will play host Clemson (NCAA Sweet 16), Duke (NCAA Elite 8), Miami (NCAA First Round), NC State (NCAA First Round), Virginia Tech (NCAA First Round), Louisville (NIT) and Notre Dame (NIT) as seven of its nine opponents at home advanced to the postseason in 2018.
Florida State plays its rivals – Clemson and Miami – both of whom played in the NCAA Tournament along with Georgia Tech and Wake Forest at home and on the road.
The Seminoles play Duke, Louisville, Notre Dame, NC State and Virginia Tech at home only and play Boston College, North Carolina, Pitt, Syracuse and Virginia on the road only.
Florida State will face two new head coaches in the ACC this season when Louisville and Chris Mack come to Tallahassee and the Seminoles travel to play Jeff Capel and Pitt. Mack will coach Louisville after spending the last nine seasons at Xavier – a team the Seminoles defeated to advance to the Sweet 16 of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Capel was an assistant at Duke for the past seven seasons.
Florida State advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament and was ranked No. 18 in the final USA Today poll of the season. The Seminoles defeated a near-school-record six ranked teams including two in the NCAA Tournament (Xavier and Gonzaga) and finished the season with a 23-12 overall record.
