TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) — Florida State, which has won two straight and three of its last four ACC games, plays host to No. 24 Miami on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The Seminoles and the Hurricanes met earlier this season with Miami taking an 80-74 victory at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables. Florida State enters its game against Miami fresh from its 88-77 win over Georgia Tech on Wednesday night in Tallahassee. The Seminoles were led by junior All-ACC Candidate Terance Mann who scored his career-high of 30 points in the victory. Florida State enters Saturday’s game having won two of the last three meetings against Miami including the last game played in Tallahassee. Florida State took a 66-57 win in Tallahassee on March 4, 2017. Following the Seminoles’ game against Miami, they will travel to play their only game of the season against Wake Forest as they travel to play at Winston-Salem on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
SUPER-MANN EXPLODES FOR 30 – NOW IN THE TOP 10 IN THE ACC IN SCORING
Junior Terance Mann scored his career-high of 30 points in Florida State’s 88-77 victory over Georgia Tech on Wednesday night in Tallahassee. His scoring outburst moved him into seventh place in the ACC in scoring and made him one of only eight players ranked in the ACC’s top 25 for scoring (seventh) and rebounding (22nd). His career-best 30-point scoring night moved him from 13th place in the ACC in scoring (15.3 ppg) to seventh in scoring in the nation’s toughest conference (16.1 ppg). Mann is one of only seven players in the ACC who is averaging better than 16 points per game. Mann became the first Seminole to scored 30 points in a game since Xavier Rathan-Mayes totaled 30 against North Carolina on Jan. 4, 2016. He became just the 23rd player in school history to score 30 or more points in an ACC game. Mann’s 21 first half points against the Yellow Jackets ranks as the best single half scoring effort of his career and is tied for fourth on his own personal list of most points scored in a game.
UNIQUE TRIPLE FOR MANN AGAINST GEORGIA TECH
Junior Terance Mann led the Seminoles in scoring (30 points), rebounds (five) and assists (five) as he turned in one of the most complete performances of any ACC player this season against Georgia Tech on Wednesday. Combined with his 30 points and five assists, Mann accounted for 41 of Florida State’s 88 points (.466 percent) including 29 total points on 21 points scored and eight more on four assists in the first half.
ANGOLA CONTINUES HIS SCORING STREAK
Senior Braian Angola scored 19 points in Florida State’s victory over Georgia Tech to mark the eighth straight ACC game (every FSU conference game this season) that he has scored in double figures. Angola enters Saturday’s game against Miami ranked 19th in the ACC in overall scoring (14.6 ppg) and fourth in the ACC in scoring in conference games only with an 18.9 points per game scoring average. He has scored in double figures in nine consecutive games against ACC opponents and is averaging 18.7 points scored since totaling 17 in the Seminoles’ game against Notre Dame in the semifinals of the 2017 ACC Tournament at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
SEMINOLES FACE ANOTHER RANKED OPPONENT IN MIAMI
With two wins against nationally ranked teams already this season (No. 5 Florida, Dec. 4, 83-66 and No. 11 North Carolina, Jan. 3, 81-80), Florida State faces its fifth ranked opponent of the season as it welcomes Miami to the Donald L. Tucker Center. Florida State has nine wins over nationally ranked teams in their last 44 games dating to its 83-78 victory over then No. 21 Florida on Dec. 11, 2016. During that stretch of games, the Seminoles are 31-13 (.705 winning percentage) overall and 16-10 (.615 winning percentage) in ACC regular season games. Florida State is scheduled to play four more games against teams ranked nation’s top 25 (one against Miami, one against Virginia and two against Clemson). The Seminoles have been nationally ranked for five weeks the season.
